It's Official!

As of Saturday, last week, I have officially been born! Mom & Dad finally got my birth announcements Photoshop'd, printed, and mailed. I think they stuck with immediate family, though, so if you didn't get one, don't be offended--Here's the link to my photo album, and it's the first photo: Album. I had no idea that they were planning on using that particular picture for the announcement, so you guys have already seen it at the top of this site...oh well. I am only six weeks old...

I received a lot of positive feedback from the first posting, so we'll have to see if I can keep this interesting for you guys. On Monday, Mommy went back to teaching--school doesn't get out for her until Memorial Day weekend. That means that I get to hang with Daddy every day for the next two months...don't get me wrong, it's not that that's a bad thing, I just wish I were older, so that we could do lots of cool stuff together, instead of being limited to the three activities I came preprogrammed with. And I'd also have a longer attention span and more motor skills. All complaining aside, though, it's been pretty good thus far. We've done some working on the computer, laundry, taken some naps together (some even outside!), and Dad promises that once the weather stays nice, he'll take me out to lunch, to visit friends, and geocaching. Oh, and I looked up geocaching the other day, and it looks pretty cool--our account name is 'skyenikko', if any of you want to find us on geocaching.com's website.

Now, on to the activities report for this week: I have graduated from sponge baths to an infant tub, so I must be growing, or something. Oh, and I paid attention to how Dad feeds me--apparently, he puts milk in bottles, and feeds me that way. Usually, the milk is reasonably warm, but on Monday he just hands me the bottle, and it was freezing cold! It took a few minutes of getting used to (plus a couple of brain-freezes), but I've got that down, now. A related event is that Dad gave me some of his Otter Pop a couple of nights ago while he and Mommy were reading a book. Man, I am a definite convert of sugar! Other than that, the only thing to report is that our family has continued to have dinner and game nights with the friends we have around here. I am generally pretty good for those--the change in scenery really does wonders.

Under the Radar...

So. It took me a while, but I was finally able to set myself up with the modern necessities of e-mail, facebook, and a blog. The main reason this took so long is that I never get a good angle at Daddy's password when he's typing it into his laptop, so I have to use one of the louder, less accessible computers to satisfy my internet needs. The second reason is that I made the mistake of putting my actual birth date in the e-mail registration form--not the best thing to do when you're only three weeks old. So, after the one week blocking of my IP for attempted underage user account creation expired, I was able to use one of my unbirthdays for registration. Good thing they don't require a government-issued photo ID to set up social networking, yet...

Now on to the interesting stuff. I was initially a little nervous about joining this detachment, given Mom & Dad's lack of certified child-raising credentials, but Mom has a degree in elementary education, and both Mom & Dad have a decent amount of practical experience, so I decided to give them a shot. Good thing I did. They're both pretty cool, and totally mellow about the whole child-raising thing. They do a pretty good job of keeping me 'pampered', and 'all-the-milk-you-can-drink' is never a bad situation. Also, the sheer number of board games, computers, books, and weapons they have actually has me excited to go to school to learn how they all work. And they talk about starting up 'geocaching' again, now that winter's over, whatever that is, and even that sounds fun. So, even though we do a lot of sitting around right now, I'm sure we're gonna have loads of fun once they can understand me.

Life is pretty good, though--I enjoy taking baths, getting my diaper changed, riding in the car (with Daddy driving), and spending time being held by others. Mom & Dad have pretty cool friends, and some of them even have kids around my age. They tend to show off how they can crawl, walk, parrot words, and point to body parts, but on the whole, they're OK. Mommy does a good job of keeping me well-fed and comfortable, and Daddy has so many weird expressions that it's just fun to watch him when he's holding me. I've started to try out a few on my own, and I guess it's working, 'cause they always coo at me when I'm practicing. Something weird happened last Saturday, though--I was just starting to feel ready for second breakfast when Mom hands me over to Dad. He stuck something in my mouth, and I just thought it was another pacifier, but then I had milk in my mouth! It was really confusing, being fed by Dad. I'm gonna pay more attention next time and see how he manages to do that...

Oh, and if you're wondering about the title of this post, it's because I've heard both Mommy & Daddy unequivocally declare on multiple occasions that they will never have a blog, because they hate the general 'post-every-stupid-detail-of-my-life' mentality that seems to have taken the world by storm, and they refuse to be a part of it. While I understand where they're coming from, I wish they'd realize that not all blogs are created equal, and thanks to their teaching, I actually think about what I'm writing and review what I've written before I post anything. So, until I can get Mom & Dad on board with the whole intelligent blogging concept, this is just going to stay between the collective you and myself, OK? I was able to copy all of Dad's contacts when he was away from his computer without locking it, so that's how you know about this--If there's someone I missed, go ahead and let them know about this blog, just make sure it doesn't get back to Mom & Dad, yet. I'll try to keep you guys posted about weekly. Now go do something productive. :)
